I had been a boarding school student for seven years, start from senior high school until college. Here is something that I feel and what I got during living in a boarding school.

I can meet my teachers easily

Most of our teachers live near our campus. So is easy for me to reach them when I need something to help. They are also so open to students that what to meet them. Not only for discussing our class material, but they also open for other topics, like career, life, rules, and personal growth.

I can focus on my study

My campus ensures the students about our security while we live there. The security always ready to protect us 24 hours. So the students feel safe while living there. I don’t need to worry when leaving my room while I stay at the campus.

Our campus also provides us canteen that serves our food three times a day. I don’t waste my time to buy food for me, to think about what I want to eat, to think where I will enjoy my meal. I just come to our canteen and eat my meal.

Rules force me to use my time efficiently

Here my timeline every day in our campus.

  • In our dormitory, we should wake up at 5 a.m. After wake up, we do morning pray and after that, we clean up all our dormitory. After cleaning the dorm, we preparing our self to join the lectures.
  • At 7 a.m. we should start our breakfast. I someone come late, he will be punished.
  • Start from 8 a.m until 5 p.m. we join the lectures. No one can back to the dorm at this time, even we had no class. We can back to our the dorm at 5 p.m.
  • At 12.15 p.m. we had our lunchtime.
  • At 7 p.m we should start our dinner. And after dinner, we had our independent time to study in our lecture room, not in the dorm.
  • At 10 p.m we should already arrive at the dorm and start out night pray.
  • At 11 p.m all the light off, no one can do other activities, everybody must sleep.

Can you imagine how we live every day? Some people maybe think that we live like a programmed robot. But, I totally disagree. I think by following the timeline I can manage my time easily because all of us had the same timeline template. The rules also force to be a disciplined person — even though I’m not disciplined enough.

The community is so close

On my campus, I feel the community is so close. I’m not sure why, but I feel we had an emotional relationship. Maybe because we already live together for a long time.

Not only the students, but the alumni also had a close community. Our alumni often visit us for making sharing session, workshop, and campus hiring. Our alumni also help us a lot the get information about internship programs, job vacancies, and others.
